Magnolia Brush Manufacturers Ltd. core capabilities are centered in the design and manufacturing of quality brooms and brushes for the professional tradesman. Our broom and brush products are designed with a purpose, constructed for performance and focused around staple set brush technologies. We offer several other types of brushes and accessories to complement our manufacturing.

Magnolia Brush employs many types of technologies in order to manufacture high quality brush and broom products for the industries we serve. Skilled and dedicated craftsmen make brushes by hand, and our fully automated staple set technologies give us the ability to produce a wide range of brush and broom products for the global market.

Combined with our technologies are years of experience in design and performance. Using only the best of available materials, the component selection truly adds to the overall value of our products. From natural materials such as Tampico and broomcorn through to the top of the line in engineered filament technologies, we can design for specific applications with the highest degree of quality and performance in mind.

Our capabilities also include sourcing a wide variety of products. The company manufactures many types of brushes but also imports different types of brushes and ancillary products to enhance our offering. If we do not manufacture or sell the type of product you are looking for, given the correct quantities we have the ability through our global contacts to locate and source products for you.

About us

Founded in Houston in 1907. Clarksville’s first corporate industry since 1953.

Company history

  1. 1907

    George Zehetner founds Magnolia Brush in Houston, Texas, operating the factory as Houston Brush Company.

  2. 1918

    The factory moves to Dallas as Magnolia Brush Manufacturing Co. Zehetner merges for a time with Thorburn Broom Co., producing corn brooms, shoeshine brushes, GI scrub brushes and horse brushes for the U.S. Army under government contract. After the partners separate, he continues as Magnolia Brush Company from a building behind his residence on Richardson Avenue.

  3. 1947

    Growth moves the business to a two-story brick building on North Walton Street in downtown Dallas. George Zehetner sells to Carl W. Zehetner and Albert Schultz, and the company incorporates under Texas law as Magnolia Brush Manufacturers, Inc.

  4. 1953

    Through the efforts of the Clarksville Industrial Foundation, the company relocates to Clarksville and becomes the town’s first corporate industry.

  5. 1995

    Carl Zehetner retires and sells the business to Kenneth W. Backus, who had joined Magnolia Brush in 1966.

  6. 2003

    The company restructures as a limited partnership, operating as Magnolia Brush Manufacturers, Ltd.

  7. Today

    The Clarksville plant occupies more than 100,000 square feet, manufacturing over 500 different items. Distribution reaches all fifty states and a number of foreign countries.

Since its beginning, Magnolia Brush has been successful in achieving the goal of continued growth and profitability.
